Just recently XFL New York announced some new hires, new we’re hearing from XFL Seattle. Zorn and company have added Chip Garber as Special Teams/Linebackers Coach and Josh Oglesby as Offensive Assistant.

Head coach @JimZorn10's staff continues to grow!

Chip Garber

Garber spent a season with Zorn with the Redskins as Defensive Quality Control Coach. It’s nice to see Zorn bringing in people he has worked with in the past. Although their record was only 4-12, things may be different this time around.

He then headed north for the CFL. He was Defensive Coordinator for the Toronto Argonauts from 2010 to 2012. He then moved to the Winnipeg Bombers for two seasons.

Josh Oglesby

Oglesby is another former AAF coach, coming from the San Antonio Commanders as a Tight Ends Assistant. He spent three seasons with Oregon State, the first in 2015 at offensive quality control and the last two (2016 & 2017) as a graduate assistant with the offensive line. Oglesby also spent time as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin, working with the offensive tackles, tight ends, specialists and scout teams. He was a four-year letterman and three-year starter along the offensive line at Wisconsin where he was a consensus All-Big Ten Conference selection as a senior and helped the Badgers to two division titles and five bowl games. Oglesby participated in the NFL Combine and was a free agent signee of the Washington Redskins, but was forced to retire due to injury in 2012.

Last week we covered the first four Summer Showcase events, this week we shift our focus to the next two. We’re taking a look at some of the key prospects that attended the XFL Summer Showcase in Los Angeles and Seattle. Enjoy!

This week in the XFL we go over the importance of Bob Stoops taking a voluntary pay cut from his role at Oklahoma, discuss the rumor that Tier 1 quarterbacks would be allocated to teams, touch on Tom Dundon trying to get a refund for his AAF investment and lastly we look at the trademarks the XFL recently filed for what is rumored to be team names for the Seattle franchise.

A lot of fans have been asking about team names, and it looks like we may be hearing them sooner rather than later. The XFL’s parent, Alpha Entertainment, filed multiple trademarks for potential team names for their Seattle franchise. Searching the USPTO shows entries for the Seattle Wild, Seattle Force, Seattle Fury, Seattle Dragons and Seattle Surge.

In doing some research on this, we stumbled upon a Reddit thread that says the reason for the multiple trademark filings could be so the league can hold a fan vote on the team name.

Shortly after we posted this article, Trademark Attorney, Josh Gerben put out a very good video on this, which you can view below:

The XFL filed trademark applications on 5 potential names for the Seattle team.

1. SEATTLE WILD
2. SEATTLE FORCE
3. SEATTLE FURY
4. SEATTLE DRAGONS
5. SEATTLE SURGE

The filings indicate one of these names will likely be the name of the Seattle team.#XFL

Personally, I like Seattle Surge the best. Let us know what you think of these potential team names down in the comments, or join the chat on Discord.

We’re already over halfway through the inaugural XFL Summer Showcase. We’ve been to Dallas, Houston, New York, DC, Los Angeles and today the XFL is in Seattle.

We’ve reported on some of the players that will be in attendance, but we now have the full roster list for today’s event.

Today alone we’ve already reported that Bishop Sankey and Hau’oli Kikaha would be attending the XFL Summer Showcase in Seattle. We’re now hearing via the XFL Seattle Twitter account that Darron Thomas will also be there showing off his skills.

Thomas was the starting quarterback for the University of Oregon football team that reached the 2011 BCS National Championship Game and won the 2012 Rose Bowl.

During the 2011 season, Thomas threw for 2,761 yards, and a single season school record of 33 touchdowns, leading the Ducks to the 2012 Rose Bowl, in which Thomas threw for 268 yards and 3 touchdowns to propel Oregon to a 45–38 victory over Wisconsin. The Ducks finished the season 12–2 (8–1 Pac-12) with a #4 final season ranking.

Earlier today we learned that Hau’oli Kikaha would be in Seattle tomorrow, we are now hearing that Bishop Sankey will be attending the Summer Showcase as well.

Sankey most recently played for the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football. He was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft and played college football at Washington. He has also been a member of the New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings.

We’re just a few hours out from when the Summer Showcase kicks off in Los Angeles, and we’re hearing some official news about tomorrow’s event in Seattle.

Last night we posted a few confirmed names for tomorrows event, but we’re now hearing via the Official Twitter account of the XFL that former 2nd round pick Hau’oli Kikaha will also be in attendance.

Today we learned a lot of names that would be attending the XFL Summer Showcase in Los Angeles. We are just now hearing some names that are confirmed for the Showcase in Seattle.

We can now confirm that Keith Price, Bishop Sanjay, Alameda Ta’amu, Obum Gwacham and Ryan Murphy will be in attendance at the Seattle event.

Price played college football at Washington, where he was the starting quarterback from 2011 to 2013. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Seattle Seahawks in 2014. He has also played professionally in the CFL, where he was a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the BC Lions. He most recently played for the Birmingham Iron of the AAF.

Regarded as one of the few two-gap nose tackles, Ta’amu was projected as a third-to-fourth round draft pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. The Pittsburgh Steelers nevertheless traded its number 6 pick to move up 10 spots in the fourth round to select Ta’amu with the 109th pick of the 2012 NFL Draft. He was later waived by the Steelers in November of that year. He most recently participated in the Spring League in 2017.

Gwatchum has been a journeyman in the NFL, working for the Seahwaks, Saints, Cardinals and Jets. He played for the Arizona Hotshots of the AAF, and was signed after they unfortunately folded by the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL.

Murphey played in college for the Oregon State Beavers, and was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the seventh round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He, similar to a lot of the recent announcements, also played for the Arizona Hotshots.

A few interesting names trying out at XFL Seattle Showcase Saturday include Keith Price, Bishop Sanjay, Alameda Ta’amu and former Seahawks draftees Obum Gwacham and Ryan Murphy.
