This week we’re talking the last two Summer Showcases. First we look at some of the standouts that attended the event in Tampa, then we move to look at some of the folks that worked out in St. Louis.

This is the leagues first departure. Back in April we reported that Catherine Raiche had left the Toronto Argonaughts to join the XFL Tampa Bay franchise in a front-office role. Via Adam Schefter we’re learning that just three short months, Raiche is leaving her role with the XFL to join the Eagles as Football Operations Coordinator.

Eagles hired Catherine Raiche as their football operations coordinator, per league sources. It’s the latest high-profile hire of a woman to an NFL front-office position. Raiche was assistant GM for the Montreal Alouettes, then worked for Toronto Argonauts and Tampa XFL franchise.

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) July 25, 2019

Raiche resigned from the Alouettes in late 2017 and accepted the director, football administration position with the Argonauts. She had been granted permission to pursue other opportunities in advance of leaving Montreal.

When Kavis Reed replaced Popp as Alouettes general manager before the 2017 season, he promoted Raiche to assistant general manager responsible for daily operations, managing the salary cap, determining the value of players and handling contractual duties.

Raiche was the first female assistant general manager in the CFL since 1988 when Jo-Anne Polak held that position with the Ottawa Rough Riders. Polak it’s believed was the first woman to hold that job title in any pro sports franchise across North America. Raiche has gone on the record stating that her goal is to be a general manager one day.

Earlier today we announced that Ron Selesky would be joining XFL Tampa Bay. Now the official Twitter account of the franchise has made some more names official. We have already reported on Josh Hinch as Director of Player Personnel and William Fields as DB Assistant, but there are some new names in the list.

Beyond Hinch and Fields, we’re also now learning that Justin Poindexter will be joining on as OL Assistant, Lawrence Hill as DL Assistant, Joshua Neiswander as QB Assistant and Michael Archer as LB Assistant.

HC Marc Trestman has made the following additions to his staff:

Director of player personnel – Josh Hinch

OL asst. coach – Justin Poindexter

DL asst. coach – Lawrence Hill

QB asst. coach – Joshua Neiswander

LB asst. coach – Michael Archer

DB asst. coach – William Fields pic.twitter.com/S40Q9piWr2

Poindexter most recently worked for the Toronto Argonaughts of the CFL. He serverd as Defensive Quality Control and Assistant Offensive Line Coach in his first two seasons. Then served as Running Backs coach in his most recent stint with the team.

Neiswander is a former Quarterback for the Montreal Alouettes. He was signed by the Alouettes on June 11, 2011. Neiswander dressed in all 17 games during the following season as a back up to Anthony Calvillo, football’s all-time leader in passing yards, touchdowns, and completions. He started his first professional game against the BC Lions on August 22, 2013, and started 4 more games that season, throwing for 1,369 yards and 9 touchdowns in his first professional season. He graduated from Angelo State University while breaking every major passing record in school history.

From 1987 to 1990, Archer was the head coach at LSU, where he compiled a record of 27–18–1. Archer has also served as an assistant coach at University of Miami, the University of Virginia, University of Kentucky, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He most recently served as the Defensive Coordinator of the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL.

Since all of the head coaches have been announced the teams have started to fill out. Today we’re learning that Trestman and co have filled a crucial role for the XFL Tampa Bay franchise. Former Birmingham executive, Ron Selesky, will be joining on as Football Operations Manager.

In 1997 Selesky joined the coaching staff of the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League as an assistant coach and Director of Player Personnel, a position he held for three seasons. After which, he joined the Carolina Cobras for the 2000 season as the team’s Line coach, coaching both the offensive and defensive line due to the AFL’s iron man rules, and Director of Player Personnel. In 2001, he was named the head coach of the Louisville Fire of af2, the AFL’s developmental league. The Fire went on to have a record of 6–10, and finished sixth in the National Conference’s Midwest Division. In 2002, he joined the Albany Conquest as the team’s head coach. For that season, the team recorded a 13–3 record, winning the Northeast Division, and finishing 1–1 in the playoffs. For the season, Selesky was named af2’s Coach of the Year.

In 2003, Selesky returned to the Arena Football League, this time as head coach and Director of Player Personnel of the Buffalo Destroyers. For the season, the Destroyers recorded a record of 5–11. In 2004, he returned to the Carolina Cobras as the team’s defensive coordinator. He was the team’s interim head coach for the final six games of the season, replacing both Eddie Khayat (2–4) and John Gregory (1–3), recording a record of 3–3. In September 2004, Selesky was named the defensive coordinator for the Destroyers.

In 2006, Selesky returned to af2, this time as the head coach of the Alabama Steeldogs, a position he held for two seasons, recording a 7–9 record each season. He returned to the AFL, as the defensive coordinator and Director of Player Personnel for the Grand Rapids Rampage in 2008. In 2009, the AFL suspended operations for one season.

He returned to the Gladiators and spent two seasons as the team’s Director of Player Personnel. Selesky became the Gladiators assistant head coach, a position he held for three seasons in 2012. In 2015, he joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL) as the team’s U.S. scout. January 2015, he was named the Director of Football Operations and Compliance for the Professional Indoor Football League. In 2016, he rejoined the Gladiators as the team’s assistant head coach. In December 2016, he was named the Gladiators head coach.

Selesky most recently served as Director of Football Operations for the Birmingham Iron of the AAF.

Yesterday we learned a few names that would be joining the XFL Summer Showcase in Tampa Bay, today we’re hearing one more. According to Benjamin Allbright, former Razerbacks QB will also be in Tampa tomorrow for the event.

Mallett was drafted by the New England Patriots in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft, and has also played for the Houston Texans,  Baltimore Ravens and played college football at Arkansas.

Big @xfl2020 workout/tomorrow in Tampa.

I am told former Arkansas Razorbacks QB Ryan Mallett will be among the players working out.

— Benjamin Allbright (@AllbrightNFL) June 28, 2019

The XFL Summer Showcase events have been pretty standard so far. 100 players; 50 offensive and 50 defensive. Recently we reported that the XFL Los Angeles was the first Showcase to have kickers and punters in attendance.

Well, now XFL DC Personnel Director, Greg Gabriel, has noted that the XFL Tampa Bay Summer Showcase will be the largest so far. This weekends event will host nearly 150 players. This is what I like to see, keep the momentum going and ramp up on the scouting.

Tomorrow I leave for Tampa for the XFL Tampa Bay Showcase on Saturday. It will be the largest Showcase to date with close to 150 players working out for XFL coaches and scouts

— Greg Gabriel (@greggabe) June 27, 2019

Earlier today we learned that BJ Daniels would be hitting the field this Saturday at Raymond James Stadium. The Official Twitter account of XFL Tampa Bay has another name to add to the list; Matt Jones will be in attendance as well.

Jones played college for the University of Florida, and was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He has also played for the Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles.

We’re just a couple days out from the second to last Summer Showcase, and this time the league is putting it’s spotlights on Tampa Bay. The Tampa Bay Summer Showcase takes place this Saturday at Raymond James Stadium, and we can’t recommend it enough if you have the opportunity to attend.

We’re now getting the first confirmed attendee via the Official Twitter account of the XFL. Former USF Quarterback, BJ Daniels will be in attendance at the event.

Daniels most recently played for the Salt Lake Stallions of the Alliance of American Football. He was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL Draft after playing college football at South Florida. He played quarterback for South Florida and the Seattle Seahawks, before moving to wide receiver in 2015. He won Super Bowl XLVIII with the Seahawks over the Denver Broncos.

Next up on the #XFLShowcase tour: @XFLTampaBay @USFFootball standout @BJDANIELS10 (3rd all time in total yards in @BIGEAST history) will be in attendance. pic.twitter.com/WdoAjYEWeI
